Bring Back Global Warming!

Post by Reel Geezer »

At this time last year I was wading out front catching largemouth on topwater lures. Today the weatherman is predicting snow. The lake water temp is 38 degrees, and the wood stove feels great.

Al, would you please turn up the heat.

The Great Lakes could still use some water. I hope some of that ice melts and makes it to Lake Michigan. Those rich guys need the water to float thier yachts. Though a bunch of them will just enjoy the slip at the marina cause even they can't afford the gas to go out onto the big lake.

OK Bad Bob start your disertation on Big Oil.

You can have some of ours: We're sinking (or the sea is rising, depending on your perspective).

To the Deke-The ice breaking off in Antactica is sea ice. It won't raise sea level when it melts no matter what size it is. NBC forgot to mention that last night. The worry that this part of the ice shelf is holding back continental glacier ice (which could raise sea level a bit, but not of consequence, if the ice in it is not replaced, which it will be because it is snowing in Antarctica more now because of warming) is guess work. More scare tactics based on half truths. Listen to your old pal Bob the Contrarian, Dekester. I deal only in truth. No half truths like NBC!

To Brian-All Pacific islands, especially Hawaiian, are sinking because of plate tectonics, not rising sea level. All Pacific plate elements are moving away from the mid-Pacific rift toward trenches (several) to be subducted there and recycled. As the plates move the islands slowly become atolls then sea mounts. Time marches on Brian. Eventually your lot will be under thousands of feet of sea water. Repent, the end is near! At least within a few million years.

To Dave-Let me know where Big Oil stops and Little Oil begins. The oil company haters can't seem to tell me. Do they want to put Little Oil out of business too? I thought it was us guys burning the gasoline who were the trouble makers, not the ones who find it for us. Oh well, what do I know?

To the Geeze-Hey, you live in Idaho. Its not the banana belt. We had snow here in Nashville Monday, and, as I recall, we're a bit south of and lower elevation than Boise. 500' elev. at my house.

Good point Bob. I got an email the other day to avoid Citgo gas stations for its owner (Chavez?) was an evil man bent on destroying the US of A.

The email said its tactics must be working as many Citgo stations were changing their names (Petro Pantry?) in order to try and duck the connection with (Chavez?). The email urged me to avoid that chain too.

My problem, the Best Man in my wedding a friend for 40 years is an independant station with guess who? Citgo. :(

Bob, make me feel good about patronizing my friends business.

OK Dave-I thought the real sin was burning gasoline, not where you bought it. If its any consolation (it isn't for me) most of our imported oil comes from Canada and Mexico. Vast quantities of natural gas (definite) and possibly oil, in the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico off the U.S.coast, but we can't drill for it there-like the North Slope-so we must bite our lip and pay homage (and big cash) to folks like Chavez and the Arab shieks. But don't worry. Soon Al will have us all driving electric cars charged up by tidal currents and windmills! BB

PS: Citgo might get more customers if they called it Petro Panty instead of Pantry.

I guess that turning off the lights for an hour last night must have worked. It is now 23 degrees out and the deer herd across the road is shivering. We have been 18 degrees below average the past week. I still haven't caught a bass out of the lake, and my back yard pond has ice on it every morning.
