Al was right!!!

Post by RAM »

Okay. I must be fair and give the devil his due. Al was right when he said in his movie "An Incovenient Truth", answering the question of why we should make the sacrifice to reduce global warming while developing markets like China and India were pouring out a vast amount of cabon-and growing: "If we lead the way, they will follow our example!" (or words to that effect).

Well, he was right! We showed China the joy of driving big gas guzzling cars and SUVs and they are following our example! The following is from the Nashville Tennessean, Tuesday, April 22, 2009:

GAS GUZZLERS ARE A BIG HIT WITH CHINA

SUVs, luxury cars are fastest-growing market segments

Beijing-High, wide and fuel hungey, the gleaming Cadillac Escalade on display at the Bejing auto show is an unlikely car for an era of record oil prices.

"If you look at the fastest growing market segments in China, there are two-SUVs and luxury cars", said Joseph Y.H. Liu, GM China's vice president for sales and marketing.

Auto sales in China are booming, with analysts and automakers forecasting growth at 15-20 percent this year. But demand for the biggest vehicles is even stronger, with sales of luxury cars and SUVs expected to surge by 40-45 percent.

Well, AL. You were right. We showed them the way, and they are following our example. But not to worry. There are only 1.2 billion of them. How many gas guzzlers could they possibly buy with such a struggling economy as theirs?

PS: Two coal fired steam plants a WEEK are being built in China. We have GOT to build more windmills to set another example they will follow!

PS: That article was actually published in 2008, not 2009 as stated above. This is 2008 isn't it? This is April isn't it? Where is China anyhow? BB

Night before last we recorded a record low temperature at 23 degrees. Fruit trees were probably damaged and your cherries and apricots will undoubtedly cost more the summer. April has averaged 10 degrees below normal. The lake is running 4-6 degrees below average temperature for this time of year. Fishing is a month behind past years.

It's a curse brought on by Al Gore. Al, please stop this global cooling we're experiencing all over North America.
