looking for a couple of spools for the old Zebco Cardinal 4, the green and white ones made in the 70s. Any help appreciated.

Cardinal 4 spools.
Forget about getting old plastic spools. Check out the American Classic version. Machined in aluminum these are tough and will last forever. They are a little pricey at $25 each but will save you money in the long run with far extended lifetime.
The problem with the originals is the plastic breaks down over time. Also if you leave mono line on for any period of time it shrinks and spool will warp and strength comprimised. I learned this the hard way with a 25lb plus king on the line and top of spool popping off a few minutes into the fight. Ugly!

American Classics are based in Utah I believe.

The actual reels are a bit pricey and quality not as good as the original Cardinal although they are pretty well an exact knock off. I bought one and the reel foot broke first time I put on rod. Seems the quality of metal was weak and brittle.
I have also heard the main drive shaft is weak and wears out fast.
For the money you can pick up a new in box Zebco 4 from Ebay if you wait it out.
But the spools are awesome. Unfortunately they only make spools for the 4's. Anyone out there have a lead for metal spools for the 3's?
