QUESTION ON OKEH 620 MEISSELBACH

Post by rayc54 »

8) :?: :?: :?:  My question is on the 620 okeh . DOES THE BACK SIDE PLATE SCREW OUT OF THE BARREL OF THE REEL :?: AND IF SO; is or could it be right or left handed treaded, or is The back side pressed in ? I have a 620 apart right now and it looks like it might be treaded, but I can't get it to budge, and I didn't want to get to forceful on it till I found out more about it.
Thanks to any one who choose's to help me on this reel. Ray :?:

The tailplates of the Okeh series screw off. They turn counterclockwise to unscrew. If you can't get it loose, you can also remove the screws from the tube frame that hold the headplate in place, and pull it out. You can then pull out the spool and put some penetrating oil on those backplate threads.

Thanks : I put 721 oil on it but it's still tight. I may just clean it and leave it where its at. DO YOU THINK A RUBBER JAW PIPE WRENCH MIGHT WORK ? :!: :)
