I came across this auction catalog and thought someone here might be interested.

Could be a bunch of junk but it looks like there might be a few old brass reels in there.

Good luck.

Didn't miss much!

I went to the auction in Scio, NY. Lots of rods, reels and lures. lots & Lots of very common gear. Probably the most expensive reel sold was a Rochester #2 idel fly reel with a replacement handle for $150.00. I did not buy it at that price, buy the way. I was able to find a few choice reels worth picking up very inexpensively. For the most part, the entire collection was nothing special. The nice thing there were only one or two other reel collectors there that seemed to be able to pick out the quality items and the rest were paying way too much for very very common reels.

Hey Kevin,

I was the other Kevin butting heads with you and I agree with your summary. I did manage to pick up some decent reels and rods. Probably my best buy was a box of about 75 agatine rod guides that I got for $8. Even though there seemed to be few serious collectors there weren't too many steals, IMO. The auctioneer was very good at extracting the last dollar. He would sell choice on a whole table of rods or reels and there were enough crazy bidders in the crowd to drive you up and keep you guessing. I was the underbidder on the Rochester fly reel with replacement handle and got to buy an unmarked Vom Hofe No. 5 hard rubber fly reel in decent condition (a few tight hairline cracks) for $75 on the next go around.

Kevin, Remember that wood rod I snagged? Do you know who can help me with a possible ID or if it is at least has all the original hardware. I'm thinking of displaying it with that brass multiplier.
By the way you picked up some great rods. That Alcedo rod is sweet! Did you get the Hardy Uniqua off the side table near the bathroom. Curious as to how much it went for?
I'll keep an eye on your ebay auctions. Let me know if you have any Rush Tango's coming up or other NY gear for that matter. Carltons and Rochester Reels especially. That is my main collection along with a spattering of NY gear.
