Jorgensen no. 615 reel?

Post by yousof »

I have this reel and I surfed the web for 3 hours to learn where it was made and by whom. I was looking for a parts breakdown so I could replace one broken part. But I found nothing. I have completely torn it down and cleaned it and reassembled. It is working but I still would like some info about this one. Franko

Jorgensen 615 Origin

I have Ben Wright's book on spinning reels and your Jorgensen is listed in it. Your reel was made by Olympic in the mid 1960s. Olympic was a Japanese reel MFG. Sorry I can't help you with a schematic.

:) 8) :!:  :type: Acording to (Ben Wrights book the wright price guide for the reel man (page 139 it list the (615 at $25.00 in as new shape I would say with a part bad most likley $7 to $9 they were all made by (OLYMPIC in Japan company that dis. in this country was in pleasnton Calif. Most that we have cleaned and lubed seem to work ok, however the bail wires are on the brittle side and do break rather easly, same as the RYOBIES and Shakespers of tha era. Its a reel and you may enjoy it , fish it or hopefuly find a part you need. That most likly is why none are on EBAY as the cost to list it would be about the same as it would sell for. Thank you two for taking the time to research the reel for me. I had a machinist make the gear and it works smooth as silk. Now lets see if the reel can handle a monster Bass this weekend.
