Beautiful reel John, it is a first generation Deluxe, 1937 or 38 only.

Nice find.

I'd say. I had to pay a few $$ but I think it was well worth it. Mike do you own any long beach de luxe's?

I own one Long Beach Deluxe which is posted in a thread about a comparison between the Long Beach Deluxe and the Penn 2/0, they are identical except for the LOGO. The Deluxe I have has a Torpedo handle and is not nearly as nice as yours. The handle is the only difference in the reel.
