I ran out of both grease and oil and have been buzzing around the internet, trying to buy some more...everyone says it's NO LONGER AVAILABLE! What's up with that? Does anyone know a source for these great products? Milt, if you'fe watching from Zebcoland, get a quart or so!
If you can't find Hot Sauce, look for Xtreme Lubricants. They make a cleaner/dry lubricant and grease. I am simply amazed how it works. The fastest stuff I have ever used. I don't know of its corrosion properties. I was sent a sample and will be using it on all of the reels I service that are used for casting.
Hi John, I just read your post about the hot sause grease and oil, Milt in on his way to Tulsa, Ok and I called Clinton and gave him the message that your looking for Milt. Clinton said he would pass it along as soon as Milt shows up.
yay-banana jump jump yay-banana Canadian USA , WOW! only thing I can say! this year was a real wonderful Class! we as centers must know how to work on all the new reels including the FIN NORs and many others! the days go by so fast, then its testing lab time, to see how long a reel will withstand working in very hot salt water , then its use time then line time, and on and on, next we get to see rods tested to actual break! now as we all have found out if the rod breaks anywhere except at the handle end then its considered JUNK! the rods that brake near the handle will pass for fishing use!whats new in Line? its a 100% Flurocarbon line and its TOUGH! It is engineered for low stretch) There were othe EYE OPENERS, however we cannot talk about this yet! The Lubes that are still used in assembly are ZEBCO HOT SAUCE and Greese, ( Note John, I will send you some) A new lube used on reels is TEF-GEL, from spurs Marine Mfg. inc. Ft Lauderdale Phone #is 1-800-824 -5372) it eliminats Galling and Corrosion) I saw some however havent tested it yet! We all had to take apart a NEW FIN NOR off shore 20 OFL and then put it back together as to pass our class! We each were givin a NEW FIN -NOR OFL 20 reel) we also had to work on the 7 to 1 Tour edition casting reel, plus other reels! we also recived a new TE1170PT reel and tour medium weight casting rod (look out bass!) We recived a lot of other ZEBCO ITEMS for our use! Then we had a few meals and the barbacue was off the Planet WOW was it extra good! The engineers took our suggestions and plan on makeing some serious changes for the best! We were well represented from Mass. to IOWA to Ill , North Carolina, etc Plus I represented OHIO! They were very happy to see the March ORCA artical on the ZEBCO 40 and actualy asked me For ORCA application blanks! and I did pass those out! (a note! John, let me unwind a bit, and some hot sauce will be on its way to you). Another item there is a new Fin Nor hard back book out by Bruce Matthews & Ed Pritchard) After all ZEBCO NOW OWNS FIN NOR! I cannot wait untill next year! If any member or other Person reading this is in the TULSA AREA the ZEBCO PLANT On Appachie street is always OPEN! Col. Milton lorens aka swim jig of a cold OHIO
Wow, Milt...sounds like more fun than camp! Glad you are having such a good experience. Although I've never turned down anything that shows up, I didn't intend to beg the precious (and pricey) lubes from you...just wondered where to find them! The boyz have answered that, so I should be good to go!
I hate to admit this but Zebco Hot Sauce and I don't mix when it comes to my old time fishing reels (Supreme, Summit, Nobby, Marhoff, etc.). Again I hate to admit that it makes them TO FAST for my casting abilities. Thus I've gone back to my plain old reel oils. They still lubricate the spool but don't let the darn spool run away from you like the HOT SAUCE does. I never thought that would become a problem, but it has for me. Now newer reels are a different story and it seem to work great on them. Any thoughts other than "Learn to cast" from you guys?
I feel your pain on that one, Warren, and I would likely dummy-down the lube on the reels if I were to fish them. I'm embarrassed to say that I have sold several nice reels just because they out-fished me ..but the hot sauce is really great on reels that you just like to take down and handle now and again...or fix up to sell.
