Shakespeare Acme 1904 Question

Post by Woody »

I have rescued two of the above reels from a long slumber in a garage in Iowa. They are a mess, and the cleanup will be interesting. I need some help with one thing before I get carried away.

The chrome (?) on the left side plate - oppisite the handle - is very thin and worn off in places. Under the coating the metal looks grey - like pot metal. Is that what it is made of, or is it some other material?

Thanks for any help and advice.

I also have one of the Shakespeare-ACME 1904 reels. The model # is FG. Would appreciate any info anyone might have on this reel. Also have a Shakespeare-Duece-1905. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
