Don,

Gene was a rodmaking son (William was the other rodmaker son) of legendary split bamboo maker Eustis W. Edwards. He was famed for his quadrate models, which had four sections instead of the normal hexagonal six.

Much, much more info on Gene Edwards can be found at the Classic Fly Rod Forum:

Post in the appraisals forum and you'll get an accurate idea of price.

Wow!
I stumbled on a good one!
Not a rod collector, this one came with a reel I wanted, so it's effectively free.
The eyelets have been removed from the guides, otherwise it's in good useable shape.
Thank you much, you made my day.
Best regards,
Don
