Cow gas tax. No! Really!
Cow gas tax. No! Really!
Article in this morning's Tennessean to the effect that farmers (cattlemen, dairy farmers) are worried about a tax on cow belches and otherwise- expelled methane. This is serious stuff here! However, the powerful farm lobby has squelched this idea. It was to be similar to the "cap and trade" tax on utilities-so much a head (or tail) fee to offset methane expelling effects on global warming. The emphasis now is to convince famers to use more "environmentally friendly" feeds that produce less methane. I am NOT kidding. Research is ongoing in the field of cattle feed that produces less belching. SERIOUSLY here!
Suggestion. Just give the da-n cows Beano before you feed them and there will be no gas.
Any other ideas ORCANs? We need to get in front of this problem (or behind it as the case may be) before it gets out of control! Consider that dogs (there are over 70 million of them) eat cereal-based dog food and (as you know, Phil) also produce methane. Are they next? Are we next?
Bad Bob
PS: I have three great bean soup recipes for anyone interested.

Farmers fear cow tax for livestock's belches
I wouldn't be surprised if someone wanted to tax Madam Pele for her 25 year long "emission" here.
