Milt Lorens reel and parts collection is for sale.

Post by Airexguy »

This is a vast collection of reels, parts and catalogs. The number of reels in this collection is unknown by me, but its the biggest accumulation I have ever seen. The parts are pretty much new old stock. Its easier to ask what parts this person DOESN'T have. There are hundreds of factory manuals. For more information contact Milt Lorens at Thanks, Bob Halver...The Airex Guy

Milt Lorens apparently does have an awesome collection of old reels & paraphernalia. Why are you hawking Milt's collection? How is Milt?

However the lists of early Penn & Mitchell parts wanted I asked about easily turned out to all be among the "parts this person DOESN'T have". Milt was confident if he couldn't find the parts, his associates could. His dogged determination to help find these parts included referrals all over that I followed up on. A small fortune in Long Distance turned up none of the parts on my lists. Certainly gave me a greater appreciation for just how scarce these obsolete parts are & how difficult it can be to correctly ID them.

Dave: I heard from Milt and he's doing fine. He and the Mrs. have just decided it's time to get out and enjoy the world while they still have the health to do it. ...a good call for all of us! Milt's tremendous stash of parts, manuals, and in-roads to lots of business to provide some serious black ink for a person wanting to go into the repair business.

I'm sure Milt will still be available to help round up parts wherever he can and provide leads for people. He has certainly helped me on many occasions, as he has many others.

Public Service Announcement brought to you by Silver King!

Everyone needs to be very careful when a spouse asks you to go on a Carnival or Princess Cruise!

It seems like two or three spouses a year mysteriously "Fall Overboard."

This is called "A High Seas divorce."

Because they are Foreign Flagged, and operate in International Waters, most of the time authorities can't even decide who investigates it.

So, everyone needs to be sure everything is Honkey Dory with the missus before you go to sea. Even so, don't stand too close to the rails after you had a lot of drinks...

Now if you want to cruise on an American Flagged vessel that has always returned to the dock with all its passengers, check out the American National Historic Landmark Schooner, Victory Chimes. This is a Tall ship sailing out of Rockland Maine in the Windjammer trade, that I've owned with a partner for the past 19 years - her image is on the back of the Maine State Quarter minted in 2003.

I'd even consider trading a cruise for some nice Mills Tarpon stuff!

Could consider a trade of a cruise for Talbot reels, parts, printed matter, posters dealer info etc., what have you. Also interested in Blue Grass Reel Works Reels other than #3#4.
I have about 300.000 Amex reward points which could be used on a cruise or any thing that might please you. Also cash.
A reply would be gratefully recieved.
Be well,
Brooks
P.S. we can not travel now, had a knee replacement on July 8, 2009 and have another scheduled September 9,2009 so reels will keep me busy
for a few months.

Milts collection

Post by Airexguy »

It will take someone who is committed to repairing or building/rebuilding of reels to purchase his collection. Its not for the faint of heart. I saw box after box of NOS Penn and Mitchell parts. Original Mitchell service kits, not to mention the uncounted number of other Factory Service kits. Many more boxes of Zebco parts and I what I saw was just scratching the surface. One shelf was about 12 feet long and it was packed tight with ORIGINAL Factory Manuals. This did not include the many self standing shelves that were packed with manuals. Milt even has original blue prints pertaining to special tools for one manufacturer of reels. I was at his house a total of 4 days and only saw 25% of what he has. This collection is AMAZING, Bob H.

Unfortunately, there's simply no way on Earth I could even consider affording, transporting, or storing "all of it no brake ups".

Am making a trip north this month & might be able to handle an F150 pickup load of Mitchell & Penn goodies.

Milt:

There is a guy here in Bronson that started working on reels in his retirement. Not sure if he wants to mortgage the house to get into it deeper though.

Do you have any idea of what you'd like to get out of it?

I could run it by him and see if he faints or not.
