This topic is not presented as a criticism of the seller. I'm simply curious about the foot on this reel that's presently being offered in an ebay auction. Am I missing something? Is the foot on this reel "normal" for factory, or in the alternative, could it be home made. What do ya'll think? Even if home made, it's still a nice looking reel (to me).
Joe, the foot looks proper, some of those reels used shorter ones because they got them (cheap) from their supplier! The drag is what is valuable! as it is a aftermarket item, or could be had from the company as a option! If you want to bid on this reel, I will stay off of it, after all (you saw it first) and I dont do things like that to friends. Email me at I will try to find more on this reel. again its not a standard drag! Col. Milton Lorens aka SWIM JIG your OHIO Conection
I don't know if it's home made or not but the foot does look pretty light weight for a reel it's size. Now if someone were to tell me the proper name for the parts that I'm referring to, I'll just say that the "pillars" on the foot are normally 2 or three times as wide from what I've seen on similar style reels.
Brian unless my eyes are gone , that foot is on flat pillers, and most likly silver soldered to the pillers!I belive the pics are a bit out of proportion, due to the camera, take note of the physical size givin, and draw it out on paper, again most likly a unknown (or! was it a worker that did some goverment work on the side?) reel is a bit new for the jewlery school product era, its that handle drag assembly thats unusual for that reel! anyway its a nice reel will see whom bids on it! My thoughts were along the same lines as Brian's. But I don't disagree with Milt.
Milt, I appreciate your thoughts on letting me have a solo crack at bidding. I amy or may not put in a bid. Therefore, I urge you to "go for it" if you want to bid. It will not hurt my feelings at all.
