[b]F/S 2 Pflueger Summit Parts Reels & Cub #2542 Handles

Post by Ron Kurtz Jr. »

I have 2 Pflueger Summit parts reels along with 2 Pflueger Cub #2542 handles. Both reels have some parts missing, screws, etc. The reel on the right is also missing a jewel off the end cap which can be seen in pic's.

Ron: Don't need the parts, but the plastic spool is the most important part. It was made no more than three years in late 40s. Unfortunate that the reel itself is in rather poor shape. That model is uncommon. Good luck!

Note to Bad Bob & others.
There was a good reason the plastic spool model in the Summit and other models were only made for a very short time - they are noisy and not a smooth caster. Wild Bill Sonnett and I have both tried a number of them thinking they would be nice and smooth. We've been disappointed to say the least.

The summits still catch my eye and it was nice to learn about the signifcance of plastic spools. Thanks to all (and saving me the time of trying to fish/cast with the plastic.
