This evening the Boise State Broncos will be facing a terrific test of their new found status. I have never been a fan of pre-season rankings, and for BSU to have found themselves #3 in the nation seems a bit much to me. I think they will have a good team again this year, but how long can you go until the bubble bursts. This should be a very interesting game, which will tell football fans, and myself, how good BSU really is this year.
Most fans are not aware that there is a storied football history at Boise State. When I moved to Idaho they were a Junior College, where they soon won a Junior College Football National Championship. When they became a 4 year school, and Boise State College, they competed in the Big Sky Conference and made the playoffs several times and won a National Championship in Division IAA (or whatever it was). A bit over 10 years ago they became Boise State University, joined the WAC and moved up to the big division. Now, here they are with talk of playing for a BCS National Championship. It seems to me it is a bit premature, but maybe, given their history, it is somewhere down the road.
