Does anyone have a reference for decoding the serial numbers on Ambassadeur Reels?

Mel,

The numbering system Abu used on Ambassadeur reels has changed several times over their existence. My best advice is to get Simon Shimomura's book "The Ambassadeir & I" if you want to learn the whole numbering system. Simon devotes an entire chapter in his book and goes into great detail explaining the numbering systems Abu used. If you have a specific reel that you are talking about please tell me the model and the number on the reel foot, then I can be more specific in dating that reel.
