RE: RESERVE
I prefer not to reveal it, but I don't think you'll find it intimidating.

I have collected these for several years and the only fragments of information I can remember finding is that Sylvanus Meek splintered off from his Father's reel business at close to the same time it was sold and was involved in the #22 reel only and that all the reels he was involved with are marked "America-Meek" or possibly "Sylvanus Meek".
The #1, #2, #32 reels I own are ball bearing reels, while my #11 and #12 are typical steel pivot bearing reels. I do not have a #22...it makes sense that it should be ball bearing, but there is a hole in the steel pivot numbers. Can anyone confirm? I have read through quite a bit of advertisment & company literature provided by John E., but sometimes the end product doesn't match the original concept...ie "Don't believe everything you Read" Some of the documentation contradicts itself. There was obviously someone in their marketing department with a fine sense of humor. The #1,2,11 & 12 are nickel plated brass reels while the #22 & #32 were either german silver or aluminum/GS combination. If you have better information (please correct me) or if you can provide any additional info...please do.
I am sure Norm's reserve is in the ballpark. Larry Sundall and Andy Foster had an America #12 for $250 for several consecutive offering lists this past year.

I can't add anything to this post, or confirm it's accuracy for that matter. I thought Meek was involved with the company for some time, but I have been corrected on that. I don't know how many reels he was involved with, or what their numbers are. Norm
