History of Tournament Baitcasting Reels?

Hi Folks!

In my quest to learn as much as possible regarding vintage tournament casting reels, I was wondering if there was a book that discussed such a subject. I'm really interested in when tournament casting started, who started it, what reels were sought after for competition, ... you get the idea.

I've looked on the net and in old magazines and newspapers and see the results from a lot of casting competitions but rarely do they mention the reels each competitor used. If any of you can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
